Count on Google to push the edge of the envelope. According to their blog, they’re trying to get musicians from all over to form an online orchestra. It appears that video from YouTube will play a big part in getting this work. Other than that, I’m a little stumped how you can play music together without being in the same place, but I’m looking forward to finding out. This is one collaboration that should be very interesting.

One of the costs of having a band program at your school is sheet music. That, of course, ain’t cheap. There are two sites to the rescue. Enter the Sheet Music Archive and the Mutopia Project. Both sites offer downloadable versions of classical style sheet music.
And it’s free. Can’t beat that price.
It’s true you’re limited to classical so if you want jazz, or big band or something these are not the sites for you. The sites offer a wide range of composers and style, so if you’re willing to work with classical, these are the Internet destinations for you.
