Pagebull: A visual search engine
Everyone is used to using Google for their searches, but for those with poor reading or typing skills a search engine that uses mainly words for its searches, well, it’s tough to use. Welcome to Pagebull. This nifty little engine asks you to enter your search term (so there is some reading involved) and then returns screen shots of the pages in the search results.
Something like this could be great for a primary teacher doing research with her class. Since the kids have limited reading skills, this would help them easily identify relevant pages.
I would, however, use this search engine with some caution. While a search for “cameras” might return items you could easily show your principal, an older class researching, for example, breast cancer, could turn up some items that you might not want your students telling their parents about.
